Collection: MAUREEN BENNETT

About Maureen Bennett: Utilizing the concepts of design learned from a history with stained glass and developing her signature style of vibrant colourful parallel lines juxtaposed by simple forms and solid shapes outlined in white, Maureen’s acrylic paintings reinterpret classic, iconic Canadian landscapes in a contemporary, bold, and graphic manner.

She finds inspiration from the Group of Seven and paints mainly from memory and the emotional experience of time spent in Algonquin, Georgian Bay, and the Western Provinces, with intuition guiding her colour choices and composition.

Her paintings' evoke feelings of peace, solitude, and quiet.

This year, Maureen continues to add to her “Red Canoe” series, in which a red canoe is placed in varied, distinctive Canadian landscapes.

A curated selection of Maureen's artwork is available for in-person viewing at  SOCIAL SPACE  Ottawa, 181 Glebe Avenue event on June 7 (opening evening), June 8 (10 am to 4pm ).
